Indy Power Systems Truck and Bus Technology
There are two areas in which Indy Power Systems can reduce costs for fleet operators. The first is by offering a Hybrid electric drive system that can reduce fuel consumption from 25% to 50%. The second area where costs savings can be achieved is in the use of the MultiFlex™ to blend multiple types of batteries to optimize the unique cost and performance characteristics of each type.
Trucks and buses commonly get low fuel economy and they contribute generally higher levels of emissions per mile. Indy Power Systems provides its partners with propulsion systems that can be bolted on to the drive system of front engine, rear wheel drive trucks and buses. These systems provide supplemental power on acceleration and store energy when braking. With this Hybrid system, trucks and buses can increase fuel economy by 25% to 50%, depending on the duty cycle and energy storage.
In addition, for any given Hybrid or Electric propulsion system, the Multi-Flex™ can blend multiple battery chemistries, such as Lithium-ion and Lead-Acid, to optimize cost and performance. This can save up to 50% over Lithium-ion batteries alone. In addition, the Multi-Flex™ can operate hotel loads under no-idle conditions from the same battery packs that are used for the propulsion system. The system can also operate the starter and low voltage with the same battery pack or group of battery packs. The Multi-Flex™ can both consolidate electrical systems and lower the cost of batteries required for operations by blending multiple chemistries.
